Lady Bushra: Professional Victim

Lady Bushra brings her new live show Professional Victim to the stage for a riotous hour of sharp comedy, outrageous observations and gloriously unfiltered storytelling.

The drag creation of British Asian comedian Amir Dean, Lady Bushra is a Bradford original who has taken her distinctly British brand of humour from Northern England to stages across the UK and now the U.S. Shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award and seen on BBC, Channel 4 and Revry TV, Bushra combines dry British wit, South Asian references, political satire and brutally honest cultural commentary with a natural instinct for finding the absurd in almost everything.

Professional Victim explores identity, migration, religion, family, queerness and modern culture through the perspective of a British South Asian comic trying to make sense of America. From growing up in a conservative Muslim household in Bradford to navigating queer life in New York and Los Angeles, Bushra turns personal experience into big laughs, unexpected stories and plenty of moments that are probably best not repeated to her mother.

Expect razor-sharp punchlines, playful audience interaction, improvised asides and the occasional unexpected turn as Bushra lets the room become part of the show. While rooted in comedy, Professional Victim leaves plenty of room for Lady Bushra’s larger-than-life personality, storytelling and theatrical instincts to take over.

Bold, cheeky and unapologetically British, this is comedy with a little glamour, a lot of attitude and absolutely no interest in behaving itself. This show is guaranteed to be like nothing you’ve ever experienced!

Webby Award nominated and shortlisted for the BBC New Comedy Award, Lady Bushra is the British South Asian drag comedy character created by Amir Dean.

Originally from Bradford, UK and now based in Los Angeles, she blends political satire, cultural values, and sharp observational humor into a character that is equal parts glamorous icon and fearless social critic.

Known for tackling identity, current affairs, and everyday life with wit and authenticity, Lady Bushra’s stand-up comedy performances combine written storytelling, audience interaction and improvisation with incisive social commentary.

Following appearances on Revry TV and with a comedy special and documentary currently in development, Lady Bushra continues to establish herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary comedy.
